Dan’s List of 5 Things You Can’t Miss During Orientation

  1. Campus Services Event – This will be held in Barton Hall from 8am to 5pm on Friday and is the premier place to learn about all of the activities and services Cornell has to offer. Go there after Registration and move in.
  2. Floor Meetings - There will be one Friday at 7pm and one on Saturday at 9pm. Not only are they mandatory, but they are also important to know how to live in Dickson. If you are on my floor, meet in the 5 side lounge.
  3. Dump and Run – Forget anything at home? Want furniture or anything else? Stop by Helen Newman Hall from 10am to 7pm on Saturday to get ‘dumped’ items from the end of last year. This is my personal favorite orientation event.
  4. The Sleep talk – Taught by renown sleep professor Dr. James Maas, this is an opportunity to learn exactly why you need to get 8hrs of sleep each night. It is Saturday in Bailey Hall at 3:45. Maas is incredibly engaging and the professor of Cornell’s most famous course, and the worlds’ largest class, Psych 101.
  5. Arch Sings – If you have ever seen Andy Bernard from the Office, you can probably guess that Acapella groups are an integral part of campus life at Cornell. We have about 13 registered groups on campus and they will be holding free concerts, or arch sings, at various times. You will have to check the schedule to know when and where, but they are certainly not to be missed.
